Red Dances
A 3 track minimalism single (16m 48s) — released August 15th 2025 on Primary Colours Records
Kit Grill sharesthe wondrous, longform new single 'Red Dances', following the exhilarating, dancefloor-focussed minimalism of recent EP 'Opal', a release described by Electronic Sound Magazine as 'five pieces of deft techno, buoyantly weightless in its sense of space'.
An exquisite procession of crystalline synthesis, 'Red Dances' is inspired by the impressions of city living; the experience of daily travel, human connection, and the surrounding environment. According to Kit:"'Red Dances' pulls from living and travelling within a city. It's a slow dance moving through traffic, people, spaces and parks across day and night. It reminds me of riding solo or with friends witnessing life happening all around you. I also see 'Red Dances' combining well with contemporary dance and would love for it to be choreographed one day."
The speculative sound of urban choreography, Kit unfurls an ethereal, rapt suite of electronic music on 'Red Dances', evoking the simple pleasures of taking a moment, looking around, and appreciating the restless, unconventional beauty of city life. Kit's approach to the track is rooted in cinematic inspiration and envisages an elegant conception of metropolitan movement:
"'Red Dances' was made using a vintage string emulator and I approached making the track as if it was a score for a film. It moves through different structures, layers and melodies, going back and forth, [and] transforming over the course of its 10 minutes duration. The transformation in the music mirrors the slow dance of riding through the city."
